Over the past month we have been sharing updates from some of the member caucuses that have been formed by members of our Union. Caucuses exist to help members organize, network and advocate for members within a specific community or with specific common interests. Some examples of member caucuses include, the AFRAM Caucus for members African descent, the Asian and Pacific Isander (API) Caucus for members of Asian heritage, and the Conservative Members Caucus for members who identify as politically conservative.
In addition to these examples, a Lavender Caucus was recently formed by members of our Union and I wanted to highlight an upcoming event they are organizing. The Lavender caucus is focused on LGBTQIA+ community members of our Union. The Lavender caucus will be meeting on Thursday, November 7th at 7pm on Zoom. All are welcome to join and we’re expecting it to be a great meeting!
If you have any interest in becoming involved in any of the current caucus groups, let us know, we would be happy to connect you with the member leaders involved. The caucuses do so much community building and organizing in our union including a number of fun cultural and volunteer activities. Every caucus is open to any interested member of our Union. Also if you would like to organize or form a new caucus, let us know and we can help you learn how to go about it!
