Deal reached early Friday morning sees multiple big gains, including huge 25-48% wage increases, that will help address the state’s severe shortage of care workers
To address massive shortages of these critical workers – mostly women and people of color – the union bargaining team is proposing wages above $20, access to overtime, and retirement to recruit new workers to care for MN seniors and people with disabilities
“We oppose this merger because we worry it could lead to increased prices for patients and lower wages for the essential workers who care directly for our families."

Yesterday, the Union bargaining committee met for a third time with Allina about their proposed mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. While we made some progress in bargaining there were three items on which Allina management informed our Union they could not agree and would need to consider with Allina leadership.

Every spring, members of our Union gather at the state Capitol in St. Paul for Lobby Day for a big rally and small-group visits with our state representatives and senators. That kind of big gathering is not possible this year.
Last week, there was a tragic mass-shooting at the Allina Crossroads Clinic in Buffalo, Minnesota. The clinic is located about a mile from the hospital which is represented by our Union.
Each year in January we work to educate all members of our Union on the special importance of Martin Luther King to our union and the labor movement.
Last month, thousands of SEIU healthcare workers around the country and in Minnesota started receiving the COVID-19 vaccine!
In December, our Union filed a lawsuit in Federal court against the Monarch Nursing Home chain over their refusal to arbitrate Union grievances.
Over the last two weeks our Union has been conducting a membership survey with important questions related to newly developed COVID-19 vaccines.
On Friday, our Union submitted a formal letter on the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in Minnesota.
